Welcome to the City of Smiles -- Bacolod City!
I always wonder how Masskara Festival is being held in Bacolod. So, when I got the chance to experience it I grabbed the opportunity. Packed my backpack for an overnight adventure with my travel buddy, Tiffany. This tour is a bit of a planned and not so well planned trip for the both of us.
We were boarded on the first flight to Bacolod with Philippine Airlines, that departed Manila at around 6 in the morning. So, we really need to hurry up since we woke up pretty late. Luckily, we were accommodated on the flight that we wanted. We arrived in Bacolod at around 7 in the morning and from there we started our adventure!
Let the adventure begin...
Upon arrival in Bacolod, we actually planned to commute as in use a Jeepney but there isn't any at the airport. So, when a taxi driver actually asked us to rent his cab for PHP500.00 we just grabbed it.We apparently didn't realise that the airport is far from Bacolod City. We also asked the driver's assistance to help us look for an accommodation since we don't have any! AHAHAHA! I know! it's sooooo hard to find an accommodation during the festival. So if you guys wants to experience the festival be sure that you've arrange your hotel two weeks before the festival.
I guess the odds is in our favour since we were accommodated on the first hotel we actually checked. And the accommodation is relatively cheap knowing that it's Masskara Festival. We got a deluxe suite for only PHP2240 which is PHP1120/each person. And the front desk is really accommodating and very friendly. O Hotel is located in San Sebastian St. Bacolod City, which is quite a walking distance from where the activities are being held -- Lacson St.
Actually, we just left our things at the front desk and proceeded in our wandering. There are few places we want to see and try so let's get started, shall we?
Campuestohan Highland Resort
It's about an hour and 30 mins away from the City. And it showcase a lot of activities and catering a fantastic view. I advise that you go find the local van that will bring you to Campuestohan for one Php100.00 instead of going their by renting a cab. And I would recommend to seat in front beside the driver's seat so you would really see the amazing view and how foggy it is on the way there.

You would also enjoy it's fantastic treats and crazy adventures! For a very affordable price! Entrance fee would be PHP150.00 and activities varies from PHP100.00 to PHP200.00.
After taking in the wonder view and we decided to try the Sky Bike which is one of the reasons we actually went there. :)
After indulging the view in Cammpuestohan we went back to the city to watch the street dance and parade in Lacson Street. All the dancers were dancing in one song and there were judges in some designated stops. The dancers were wearing vibrant colors and their masks made me smile.
We also ran after the other dancers for some groupie hahaha..
Calea Pastries and Coffee
And the Calea's Cakes are too die for!! YUM!!
While waiting for the Electric Masskara Parade, we tried to visit Calea and eat some yummy desserts! We quite didn't enjoy our desserts that much since the cafe is too loud and noisy. Hahaha! My socially introvert personality is getting out in my system. ;)

Manokan Country
Of course your Bacolod experience won't be complete without tasting their yummy Bacolod Chicken Inasal!! (not a chicken lover but I love it!)

The Ruins, Talisay Bacolod
A place full of history and wonders! I am so in love with it's architecture and specific details of this place. A perfect description of this place is "Beautifully ruined" or "Beautiful Disaster". It's quite disappointing that it rained that time and we were not able to pose with all it's corners ha! But we were able to take some wonderful photos as well despite of the rain.
***Some obligatory tourist shots too!!!****
Pasalubong
Some Pasalubong buying in Bong-Bong's is a must. Because Bacolod is not complete without buying their famous PIAYA and NAPOLEONES!!!
After our checklist has been checked! We headed to the airport and flew back to Manila with Philippine Airlines of course! Our flight was a bit delayed due to bad weather and air traffic. But once we boarded the crews were doing their jobs pretty well. Though, the flight back home is bit bumpy and super long due to bad weather in Manila, I would like to commend the captain and first officer for landing safely in Manila. :) Kudos to PAL Team!
Hey!!! Wait.. I'm not that video kind of person, but since I was a bit delayed in posting this blog... I sum up our Bacolod escapade in one video! Enjoy watching, Love!
Soooooo excited for my next SABventures!! Hello Queen City of the South !!! :))
xx Sab
