“Promises are meant to be broken” but to me it is meant to be fulfilled and acted upon.
Promises are something you just do not say because a person is mad at you or to make a moment more romantic. Because promises are not JUST WORDS sometimes it gives people hope to keep on going—in life.
Promises are product of love and trust. When someone made a promise, someone believes on it, someone holds on it. Do you realize what happen if all those promises were broken, all those promises were thrown away? It is more like not just keeping those promises but throwing the trust and faith that has been given to you. Would you like that to happen? You, being the reason why someone decided to not trust, not to believe?
People not just partners make promises. Your parents, brothers and sisters, friends, best friends, colleagues, actors and actresses, and even TV ads make promises---to make you beautiful, young, whiter and more appealing in just 7 days. But after purchasing the products and realizing that the ad has been lying to you, you never purchased it again right? You then tried again another product, you believe in it again and it failed you. And yet you tried and tried and tried again until you found that product that fulfilled its promise BUT before you tried to purchase that “product” you were doubtful in all ways possible and yet you still tried it. Do you understand? It is like when your parents promised you for a toy you’d been eyeing for like a week and they kept on promising that they’ll buy it a week after and yet it didn’t come, like when your brother or sister promised you a piece of candy and yet they ate all of it, like when your high school and college friends promised to keep in touch after graduation but all of you wandered in different paths and never met again, like when your best friend promised you that they will always be there no matter what and yet was not there when you first had you real heartbreak and like when your partner promised you forever and left you hanging in pain and grief after seeing him with other girls. It all started in a simple toy, a sweet candy to a much deeper promise--- a promise of forever.
A promise that if not fulfilled it will bring too much pain. A promise that can easily be done yet people chose to break with dishonesty and unfaithfulness.
After breaking a promise—willingly or unwillingly--- you will be hurting someone’s trust and ability to believe. Would you like to be that one? Because if you asked me I don’t want to be that person who makes promises that they can’t kept nor be the person who believed in it and failed.
“Promises are not meant to be broken, Don’t make promises that you can’t keep”
